Chillas are all time favourite,easy to prepare,quick and filling breakfast/snack always.Try this cucumber chillas which are with unique taste .Every time you see piles of cucumbers in market ,I am sure you will buy it for these chillas and not just for salad.
My mom is making these chillas since years.Being born and brought up in Maharashtra every maharashtrian delicacies has special place in my heart and tongue.These parathas/chillas are known as “Kakdi Thalipith” in Maharashtra.You may simply replace cucumbers with bottle gourd(lauki),carrots to make that particular thalipith.
Cucumber 3 medium sized
Whole wheat flour 2 cups
Rice flour 1 cup
Ajwain(Carom seds) 1 Tablespoon
Sesame seeds(Teel) 1 tablespoon
Green chilli paste 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder1 teaspoon
Ginger garlic Paste 1 Teaspoon
Curd 2 Tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil for shallow frying
1.Peel cucumbers and grate them,Drain extra waters if you feel cucumber has secreted too much water.As you have to mix this grated cucumber with flour,more water will make you add more flour which can alter the taste of chillas.Better take out extra water and keep aside .you can add it to your mix if needed.
2.Add whole wheat flour and rice flour to the mix.Add all the spices mentioned above and make batter which should be having enough consistency to make chillas.you may add water we have kept aside.
3.Heat a non stick pan on flame and spread the the spoonful of batter to make chilla.Don’t try to make it too thin.
4.Pour little oil along the sides of chilla and cover the pan.
5.Now flip it and Cook the chilla on both the sides till golden brown.
6.Serve chillas with curd or green chutney.
