This time I don’t wanna prepare sambar,chutney with idly .I needed something wholesome and can go without any accompaniment.What else than this masala veggi idly.
These normal idlis can be embedded with carrots peas cauliflower florets,corns or with any of the veggies you have in hand.A power packed breakfast to kick start your day. Your kiddos will love it for sure.
Rice 2 cups
Black gram lentil(skinless) UDad dal 1 cup
All diced vegetables of your choice 1 cup
I used peas ,carrots and coriander leaves.
Black pepper powder ½ teaspoon
Salt as needed
Oil for greasing idly stand
1.Soak Rice and udad dal separately in enough water for 8-9 hours.
2.Grind rice and udad dal in mixer to have smooth batter.
3.Allow this batter to ferment for 6-7 hours.Take container of bigger size as the batter may rise after fermentation.
4.Now add salt and water if needed to your batter and heat idly cooker with water in it.
5.Take all the veggies and chop it in small size.Add black pepper powder,salt and mix well.
6.Grease your idly stand(if you have non stick one then greasing is not needed).pour little batter in each of the mold of stand and add veegies in batter in every roundel.Make sure to pour little batter as adding veggies will enhance its capacity and batter will expand.
7.Place the idly stand in cooker and let it cook for 15 minutes.
8.take out the idlys and serve with tomato ketchup or solo.
