Instant Thandai masala Powder recipe is holi special recipe for you foodies.Hope you will enjoy it.
Instant Thandai Powder that too homemade..believe me, I had never imagined I will try this thandai powder recipe at home.Yeah making all unusual, generally store bought things, comes to you when you have to live out of India. We would never think of making thandai at home because these ready-made packed thandai sachets are easily available in India.Especially when Holi is around the corner you may find it in any general stores in India.
I had homemade thandai at my mausi’s (aunt’s) home once when I was there at her place.A rustic thandai recipe is actually assembling all the dry ingredients, soaking it overnight and then grinding it on paste(A old fashioned grinder made with stones) on the very holi day.It was the same thandai I had at my aunt’s home.Of course, I am not the one going for this kind of thandai recipe.I encountered with this easy and simple thandai masala powder recipe ,and couldn’t resist myself trying it in my kitchen.
Another reason for trying of this powder form of the recipe is its shelf life.you make it and can be stored in airtight container and can be store for a couple of days. When you want to serve just add it to chilled milk and serve the tempting drink.
I came across so many versions of thandai powder recipes on the internet.I omitted some of the ingredients just due to lack of availability.but believe me it didn’t alter the taste much.e.g.I didn’t added melon seeds and pistachios which were not available with me but I found the mention of them in some thandai powder recipes.
Almonds ½ cup
Cashews ½ cup
Cardamom powder ½ tsp
Black pepper powder ½ tsp
Poppy seeds 2 tbsp
Cinnamon powder a pinch
Nutmeg powder a pinch
Fennel seeds powder 1tsp(I have sugar coated fennel seeds so used them)
Dried rose petals 1 tsp
1.Assemble all the ingredients and put it in a blender.
2.Blend it to have a little coarse powder.
3.I blended almonds and cashews first and added all other ingredients gradually as the blender I am using is not a strong one and takes different time to grind hard and soft things. If you have strong Indian blender you may put and blend everything in one go.
